MRE 2020 is just around the corner on 19-20 Feb at the BDC in London – find out why you should be at KTN’s flagship materials event of the year.
The main conference of Materials Research Exchange 2020 takes place Wednesday 19th February – Thursday 20th February at the BDC in London. The exhibition, investor showcase and conference will demonstrate ground-breaking new materials developments and their manufacturing processes, granting delegates the opportunity to network with an international audience, meet funding and decision makers and attend targeted seminars and keynote addresses.

The event will kick-off on Wednesday 19th session with the plenary session chaired by KTN’s CEO, Dr. Alicia Greated and a welcome address from Sir Mark Walport (Chief Executive at UKRI). Keynote addresses on Day 1 come from Dr. Ian Campbell (Interim Executive Chair, Innovate UK), Professor Phil Withers (Regius Professor of Materials & Chief Scientist, Henry Royce Institute), Lord Whitby (President of Surface Engineering Association) with an industry case study delivered by Dr. Amanda Quadling (Technical Director, M&I Materials) and Richard Banks (Laboratory & Technical Manager, Indestructible Paint Ltd.).
Sessions over the two days cover the full spectrum of the materials world, with highlights including a packed Academic Conference in the Auditorium from the Henry Royce Institute and EPSRC, Advances in Surface Engineering from SELF, Materials for Defence and Security Challenges (led by Dstl), plus further masterclasses on IP and R&D Tax Credit. There will also be the chance to learn about the ISCF Smart Sustainable Plastic Packaging challenge, courtesy of UKCPN and UKRI, while updates on the Transforming Foundation Industries competitions will be announced. Metamaterials, 2D materials, aerospace materials and electrification of transport batteries will be discussed during seminars, with pitch training opportunities and the challenges to innovation around new materials in clinical applications also being presented to the audience.
