Material Flow of PET Used in Packaging Applications in India 2021-22
To increase the use of rPET in bottles, this report provides data on the current scale of PET use, amounts collected and sorted after use, and rPET available for bottle-to-bottle applications. The data will help to prioritize interventions and identify investment and infrastructure needs.
Voices from the waste: plastic waste management by the informal waste sector
This new video provides insights into the crucial work being done by India’s large informal waste sector, their trials and tribulations, and their role in creating a circular economy for plastics.
“It is exciting to see these reports published and to have been able to support them,” says Paul Davidson, director of UKRI’s Smart Sustainable Plastic Packaging Challenge. “The opportunities for the use of rPET in India, particularly in food grade packaging, are opening up and these reports provide valuable market intelligence and data to support market development. The insight into India’s informal waste sector will also help to ensure that this important aspect of socio-economic activity is reflected and supported in future policy.”
